Written Application Form for Probationary Trimester 1434H /2011-2012

Declaratory Clause

The Institute has been launched for a probationary one year trimester period as an Ahl Sunna education center on the North of Houston in an environment that caters to the three pillars of the religion: i’lm (knowledge), a’mal (practice) and ikhlās (purity of intent for God). The Institute will be housed in a quiet and secluded location to limit disturbance and distractions to both the staff and students.  The Institute is seeking a limited (10 maximum) core group of initial students to spear head this undertaking.  The selection process for the 10 will be made based on a two tier process involving, Phase I the Written Application and Phase II the Oral Application.  The written part of the selection process is this application.  All properly completed applications will be given careful consideration, therefore, the application must be filled out in full and all questions requiring written answers must be original works of the applicant.  After review of the written applications an appointment for the oral applications, Phase II, will be made via email or telephone for those who have successfully completed the first phase.

Why such a process?

The Institute expects all candidates to display varied skills and capacities to estimate the potential of each to successfully complete the first year.  Since the first year will require intensive commitment to memorization, revision, reading of Arabic texts  and ongoing assessment to determine progress and understanding of both the traditional u’lum subject strands along with the State of Texas education requirements, only candidates who have demonstrated, via the application process,  clear potential to meet the expectations may be considered.  Hence, a two tier approach.

A note on Phase II: The Oral Application will be conducted by Shaykh Naeem Abdul Wali and will require not only the presence of the applicant but also his parent(s)/guardian(s).  The purpose is to become familiar with the applicant, his social and communication skills and commitment of the parent(s)/guardian(s) to support the student and expectations sought from them by the Institute.
